Description

This was supposed to be for a contest, but it's too late now. Oh well, I'm not letting my story ideas come to waste. :D

Background:

A certain couple was not accustomed to Pokemon. They despised the creatures immensely, in fear, only interacting with the few normal animals that still had reason and will to live. They lived in an isolated area outside of Pallet town, in a nearby forest. This is where they had their first and only daughter, Everest. While the forest was filled with Pokemon, they made themselves scarce to the humans inhabiting their forest.

Everest grew up, not to hate Pokemon, but to be fascinated by them. She begged to be allowed to have one, though the idea was dismissed by her parents time and time again. Finally, on her twelfth birthday, they left their comfortable abode in search for a Pokemon that wouldn't try to kill them, one that they wouldn't wholly despise. A man in a Pokemon center sold them a Magikarp, the weakest of the beings. And so Everest received her first Pokemon.

She loved and cherished it, emulating the battles she watched on the television when her parents weren't looking, though Magikarp couldn't do much. She neglected her parents, having eyes only for her Pokemon, and for a year it was so. Her father grew jealous, and one day tried to rid their home of the foreign creature. He attempted to brutally kill it, while Everest watched helplessly. To his surprise and peril, the Pokemon evolved to the dangerous Gyarados. In blind rage, it quickly killed Everest's father. Her mother, sensing danger, ran out of the house, told Everest to run, and distracted to Pokemon, only to meet the fate of her husband.

Everest hadn't run, and she was Gyarados' next target. She closed her eyes, ready to meet death. Behind her closed lids was a flash... then nothing. Once opened, she saw her beloved Gyarados fried to a crisp. Angry, she looked around and found a black-clad man with a Raichu standing at the edge of the glade. His uniform bore a blood red 'R' across his chest. He asked how she was and sympathized the loss of her parents, but she would have none of it. She cursed him and said for killing her Gyarados, she would have revenge. The man was taken aback. Her parents were dead, yet her worries and mourn were saved for the blood-lusting Pokemon? Confused, he left.

Bulby:
In her fury, Everest caught the first Pokemon she found, entrapping it in a fishing net. A newly hatched Bulbasaur squirmed in the net, crying out. Caring little about it, she forced it to obey her, and it quickly submitted. Hoping to please its master, the Bulbasaur quickly levelled up, rarely lost, and did all its master bid. To its, or his, delight, Everest was quite pleased, and calmed some, treating Bulbasaur, now 'Bulby' a bit more gently, but with as much vigor to have him become strong.

Celestia:
Finally came the time to execute revenge. Bulby never lost, even if the odds were against him. Everest hunted down the strange trainer, finally finding him scouting a building. The man immediately recognized her. He accepted her challenge. She was just a child, whatever Pokemon she had managed to catch and train in the month since the incident would not be enough to scratch his team, and laughed when he realized the only Pokemon Everest had was a mere Bulbasaur. To his horror, the usually docile Pokemon ravaged his Pokemon in one hit K.O's, and turned on him once the battle was over. One by one, Everest eliminated each Pokemon, but as she got to the last, a shadow emerged from the darkness and attacked her blind spot. Bulbasaur quickly dispatched it, and pinned it down. The Eevee of the man struggled to be free, and spat at the duo. Everest was only amused, and decided to take her under her own wing. After much discipline and training, eevee became an Umbreon, now called Celestia, and now obedient to her new trainer.

Blaze:
Eventually Everest discovered the man was from the nefarious Team Rocket when she came across another one of them. This one came on good terms, asking the girl to join their team. Both her and the team would certainly benefit from the alliance, but Everest wanted a taste of what they could offer. The Rocket member buzzed his boss and almost immediately after the question was asked, they were on their way to the HQ. A rampant charmander blazed the halls of the headquarters. Rockets and their Pokemon chased after the wild Pokemon, failing to capture it. Without prompting, Everest's Pokemon coolly brought the Pokemon down as a team. The Rockets all knew of the possible edition to their team, and until that moment, laughed at the idea of a child being recruited. The leader, Giovanni, was pleased with Everest's skills as a trainer and let her keep the charmander as a gift, whether she joined or not. Everest soon put aside her dislike for the team and joined, becoming a prized member. Blaze was still really wild, and would rarely listen, but the threats of Celestia and Bulby kept his rampages at bay during training. Soon he'd become a powerful charizard.

Ace:
Though Everest was now part of team Rocket, she'd only occasionally go on missions when it suited her. This vexed Giovanni, but he got used to it when he realized how reliable Everest could be in certain situations. She seemed to know the best times to help. One of the missions was to jack the growlithes-in-training from a Pokemon Police Force HQ. The Arcanines they would grow into would become a hassle to future Rocket missions, so taking them while they were still minors would be easier than dealing with them every mission as full-fledged Arcanines. After the growlithes were successfully taken to HQ to become Rocket's hounds, a growlithe which seemed to have not gotten enough sleeping drug followed Everest to her scarcely used room. He followed at a distance so neither the Pokemon or Everest noticed until it was in their spacious room barking happily and jumping on everyone. Everest tried returning him to the other growlithe, but he refused. He seemed to take great liking to Celestia. Everest finally just kept him, but it took a while to get him to lose interest in Celestia. He seems to be the link that brings everyone closer though, making them more of a team in a different way than just wanting to be the strongest.

I really liked the fact that she cared more about her pokemon than her parents, who were hateful people. But I don't think such a strong willed trainer like that would join team rocket.
